    Job Position for Imam of Islamic Center of Kent (ICK), WA The Islamic Center of Kent (ICK) has been established in 1997 and located in the center of the City of Kent, 20 miles south of Seattle downtown and north of Tacoma by equal distance, two big cities of the State of Washington. This region is the hub for Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia, Geico, Starbucks etc. and many of the residents of the City of Kent work for those corporations. The Muslim community is well educated, and demographically dynamic through mix of more than 20 ethnic Muslims immigrated from different countries. Currently, more than 2000 Muslim families in the city of Kent and surroundings are being served by the center and usually 300-500 musullees frequent the Masjid during the Jumaah and other special prayers. The ICK is seeking to hire a qualified Imam for the center. This position is a regular and full time position requiring 40 hours of work per week. Depending on the qualifications, and skills, this position will be placed as the main Imam for the center.

Major Responsibilities/Duties include:

  • Lead five times daily prayers, Jummah salat, and other special salats including Tarawee, Funeral, and Eid prayers
  • Conduct fundraising for the capital projects undertaken by the Center
  • Organize and deliver Islamic lectures to congregations, monthly halaqas, and other events as requested by the ICK management
  • Solemnizing marriage and burial ceremonies
  • Religious teachings (Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies) for ICK management run schools
  • Community Counseling
  • Dawa’h program for the non-Muslims

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent in Islamic Studies from a recognized University/Institute
  • Memorized the Holy Qur’an (Jayyid Hafiz-e-Qur’an)
  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience as Imam of Islamic centers in the North America
  • Must be a Sunni Muslim and well versed in Sharia’h and Islamic Jurisprudence
  • Teaching experience in Quran & Islamic Studies, pre-school or elementary level is preferred
  • Maintain a moderate and pleasant relation with all the members of the community.
  • Ability to interact and guide youth of all ages and other community members
  • Computer literate
  • Fluent in English and Arabic (both oral and written)
